Joyful June
So, I've come to a realization...I don't think I can commit to weekly posts at this point. Too busy enjoying this summer, our yard, our friends, our family not to mention every other duty that comes along with life, not that I'm complaining.
It's about to get a bit busier. My Sister-in-Law Sarah comes from Switzerland on Thursday for three weeks. I am looking forward to spending time with her and her boyfriend Giuseppe, going to the Stampede, maybe some pedi's in there and definitely a few drinks!
Here's are some sweet moments captured over the last few weeks.

7.5 Months!
Whew. Can anyone else believe Emersyn is 8month on the 16th? I know I can't. Its kind of crazy!
However, With everday come more and more fun!
Here's whats new.
Emersyn has a tooth! The one to the left is slowly making an appearance as well. She isn't overly cranky, she's actually doing quite well.
It's pretty stinkin' cute!
Emersyn has also started "rocking" on all fours. We all know what that means...preparation for crawling. This is both exciting and sad for me. I am so excited because I know how bad she wants to be mobile and keep up with Journee but it's also a bit sad, time just goes so quickly. Not to mention, things will just get busier overall.
Other things happening with Emersyn...
Since Emersyn was two months old she developed sores on her face (eczema) as well as dry itching skin and inconsistent rashes. Its really a tough thing when you can't help your baby!
However, yesterday was our allergist appointment after a 4month wait! We finally saw Dr. Lai. A kind, patient, understanding Doctor who was truly an answer to prayer. We have seen a hand full of Doctors since Emersyns skin issues first started at two months. We always felt, rushed or as if no one knew what they were talking about. Every single Doctor had a different opinion and a different take on what Emersyn was struggling with! So, when I finally sat down yesterday with Emersyn and Doctor Lai it was a sigh of relief.
How the testing is done; Doctor Lai tested Emersyn for only food allergies at this time. I can choose to go back and have enviromental allergy testing at a later date. ie; Polin, dust etc.
Dr.Lai places liquid dots on Emersyns forearms of 30+ foods she would or could possibly come in contact with. Once those were placed on her forearms he then took a little needle and pricked the different foods.(She tolerated this well with no crying) We wait 20minutes for a reaction. If she were to have an allergic reaction to something the area would turn into tiny hives. Well, when Doctor Lai came back into the room his exact words were "Oh my..."
Emersyn has 2 allergies, doesn't seem like much but they are common foods in many things.
First- Eggs. So no flu shots, and a total avoidance of eggs and reading every single label.
Second- Nuts, not just peanuts but every.single.nut. For anyone who is in the health care profession or a school teacher I'm sure you understand how serious a nut allergy can be.
Emersyn has a 60% chance of growing out of her egg allergy by the time she starts school. She has a 20% chance of growing out of her nut allergy by the time she starts school.
I have opted to do a blood test preformed at the Childrens Hospital every year that will tell us if these allergies are getting better or worse. We're believing and praying for better.
What do we do now? Well, I now carry two epi pens in my diaper bag at all times and 6 stay home. We were also prescribed an antihistamine that is stronger then benadryl and will help with her itching.
Whoa! For a momma that didn't know much about allergies I sure am learning a lot.
We are SO thankful that we went to this appointment. We would have had no idea otherwise.

Project: Patio
The last few weeks I have been a bit MIA. Just about 2 weeks ago now, we layed sod. It has taken so nicely and is a nice rich, dark green. We also bough some Junipers to place along that not-so-attractive green electrical box out front...Which still need to be planted!
However, our most daunting task this summer-so far has been our concrete patio.
ALMOST.THERE.CAN.SEE.LIGHT.AT.END.OF.TUNNEL.
Dave has done such a phenomenal job at keeping positive and working oh.so.hard! Its deifnitely a challenge to help Dave as well as watch both girls and have everyone stay happy all at the same time.
Anyways, Were in the final stages. Dave and my dad, as we speak are out back laying the rebar and thats all folks. The rest is left to our concrete finisher who will come today, confirm everything looks good and book the pour one day this week (weather permitting. PLEASE WEATHER!).
Here's a few pics...

1-2-THREE!!!
Happy Birthday (tomorrow) to my biggest, most beautiful baby!
Thats right, 3 years since Journee made her entrance into this world and what an amazing 3 years it has been. Journee packs such personality and enthusiasm in everything she does. She is so full of life and fun spirited and not to mention, an uber smart girl in general.
Dave and I decided to buy Journee one of the "bigger" items on her wish list. "A pink bike with a pink helmet and a bell" (Her words not mine) and so we did. She's been cruising on her bike for 2 and a half weeks now and is actually, really good. By day 2 she understood what it was to peddle and get moving, to watch where she is going and the odd time, even apply breaks! (Smart, I know hehe).
This past Saturday was her Birthday party, SO FUN! She had 6 little friends and our families. Balloons, cake, prezzies and a really great day!
Tomorrow, on her Birthday she has requested the Science Centre in the morning. Since she shares her Birthday with my Mom (how awesome) we will have dinner out tomorrow and return back to our place with everyone for a crave-o-licious cake...HECK YES!
Having Journee turn 3 has been such a pleasure. We look forward to watching her evolve into the amazing person she is becoming.
Here are some pictures of her Bike shopping adventure and her party...Enjoy, we did :)
